
One extremely lucky Canadian Lotto Max player kicked off Mother’s Day weekend with a life-changing jackpot win.
On Friday, one lottery player managed to match seven of the Lotto Max winning numbers 02, 06, 08, 33, 35, 43, 44, and bonus 21. As a result, the winner will soon take home a massive $70-million prize, and according to OLG, the ticket was purchased in Ontario.
“The winning ticket for the Friday, May 8, 2026, draw was sold somewhere in Brampton,” states the release.
There were no winners for the Lotto Max second prize worth $268,281.90, but 62 people will split the third prize, with each taking home a share worth $4,409.
There were 10 Maxmillions up for grabs, and two Canadians each scored a $1-million prize after buying their tickets in Quebec and Edmonton, Alta. Three winners from Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec ended up splitting one Maxmillions prize and will each receive $333,333.40.
It’s been nearly a month since the last time someone won the Lotto Max top prize. On April 7, someone in Penticton, B.C., won a $75-million jackpot.
During Friday’s draw, there were also 70 MaxPlus prizes worth $100,000, and several lottery players in Ontario, Quebec, and Manitoba will soon take home prizes.
In B.C., no one won the $500,000 Lotto Max Extra, and similarly, no one in Ontario won the $1-million Encore prize.
The next Lotto Max draw is on Tuesday, May 12, and the jackpot is worth $15 million.

Although no one won the $42-million Gold Ball Lotto 6/49 jackpot, someone in Ontario did score the $1 million prize during the draw on Saturday, May 9.
No one will be taking home the $5-million Classic Draw prize, but two people who purchased their tickets in Quebec will split the second prize, each receiving $126,586.20. A total of 83 Canadians will share the third prize, with each of them taking home $1,280.80.
A total of 40 Canadians across several provinces won guaranteed prizes in the Super Draw, each worth $25,000.
Although no one won the $500,000 Classic Draw prize in B.C., someone in Ontario is now $1 million richer after winning the Encore top prize.
The last time someone won the Lotto 6/49 Gold Prize was on March 11, when someone from Ontario won $44 million. The ticket was purchased online.
The next draw is on Wednesday, May 13, and the Gold Ball prize is now worth $44 million.
