Canada Day turned out to be lucky for one Lotto Max lottery player who will soon take home an impressive prize.

The Lotto Max draw took place on Tuesday, July 1, and the winning numbers were 02, 05, 14, 26, 33, 35, 36, and bonus 10. At the time, the jackpot was worth $55 million, but no one managed to match the seven winning numbers to score the top prize.

However, one Canadian matched six of the seven winning numbers and the bonus number, earning a second-prize win. According to PlayNow, the winner will take home a prize worth $193,980.30, and the ticket was sold online in B.C.

The third prize will be split between 45 people who matched six of the seven winning numbers. Each will receive $4,310.70.

There were also four Maxmillions prizes to be won, each worth $1 million, but no one matched any of the winning numbers.

No one in B.C. won the $500,000 Lotto Max Extra prize, and similarly, in Ontario, no one won the $1-million Encore top prize.

The last time someone scored the jackpot was on June 3 when 15 employees from a car dealership in Trois-Rivières, Que., won the $20-million prize.

Group member and dealership manager Mathieu Ouellet said he was very proud that his whole team showed up on time, given the circumstances.

The co-workers smiled from ear to ear as they gathered in front of the dealership to hug each other. Veronique Leclerc recalled, “You could feel the excitement at work.”

Each of the winners received a cheque worth $1,333,333.

All eyes are on the prize as the jackpot is now worth $60 million. There are also six Maxmillions prizes to be won, and the next draw is on Friday, July 4.
