
Two lottery players across Canada will be waking up to some happy news: they just won a Lotto 6/49 prize.
The draw was on Wednesday, April 2, and the Gold Ball prize had reached $40 million. Although no one won the jackpot, someone did match the White Ball prize after they matched the winning number 72286924-01. According to PlayNow, a lottery player from Quebec is now $1 million richer.
Two Canadians will split the $5-million prize after they matched six of the Lotto 6/49 Classic Winning numbers 18, 26, 35, 40, 43, 47, and bonus 24. Each is now $2.5 million richer after purchasing their lucky tickets in Ontario and Quebec.

Five people will split the second Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw second prize after they matched five of the six numbers and the bonus number. Each will receive $56,005.50. Four tickets were sold in Ontario and one in Western Canada.
The third prize was won by 71 lottery players, who will each receive $1,656.10.
No one in B.C. won the Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw Extra prize worth $500,000. Similarly, no one in Ontario won the $1-million Encore prize.
The most recent Lotto 6/49 jackpot winner was Alberta man Thanh Lu, who won $30 million during the February 5 draw.
“I checked on the website and saw that someone in Edmonton had won,” he said. “I took my ticket, checked the last two digits, and put it away again.”

When asked what he plans to do with his winnings, he said, “I am thinking of moving to B.C. for nicer weather and property on the waterfront.”
The next Lotto 6/49 draw is on Saturday, April 5, and the Gold Ball prize is worth $42 million.
