Canadian couple who won $2.5M in 2018 score another huge lottery prize
For one Canadian couple, winning the lottery must’ve felt like déjà vu — after all, they had already gone through the same process eight years ago.
In 2018, St. John’s, Nfld., couple Angelina and Edward Lado decided to try their luck after purchasing a Scratch’N Win ticket called Multi-Millionaire. To their shock, they won $2.5 million.
At the time, Angelina worked as a cook at a local restaurant, while Edward was studying to become an electrical engineer.

While claiming their prize, Edward said that the money would allow him to finally look for his mother.
“My mother, whom I have not seen since I was an infant and have no memory of, is in a refugee camp somewhere in Uganda,” he had said. “I will go to find her and hopefully bring her here. It’s very hard for me to believe that is now possible.”
Now, the couple are in the spotlight once again after winning the Set for Life Scratch’N Win top prize.
When Angelina told him they had won, Edward said he was in disbelief.
“I told her to calm down, and when I come home, we will see if it is for real,” he recalled.

After checking the ticket, he realized that it was real — they now had a choice between receiving $1,000 a week for 25 years or a lump sum payment of $675,000. The couple opted for the lump sum.
For now, they said they’ll put the winnings towards their children’s education and give them a head start in life.
“We will think about anything else along the way, but for now we are just digesting the moment and letting it sink in,” Edward said. “We don’t want to rush into anything; taking our time is the best option, and things will fall into place as life progresses.”
He said that they play modestly, adding that “if you don’t play, you don’t win.”
Angelina purchased their winning Set for Life ticket at the Kiwanis Street Marie’s Mini Mart in St. John’s, Nfld. The seller will receive a one per cent seller’s prize.
