Canadian lottery winner thought tablet was wrong before scoring huge jackpot

A Canadian lottery winner had to double-check his tablet to make sure that it was working correctly before finally believing he had won a huge jackpot.

Wing Wah C. of Burnaby, B.C., was left stunned after learning he had won $2 million from the July 4, 2026, BC/49 draw.

The Metro Vancouver resident was initially confused and thought he was misreading his tablet while checking his ticket online.

“On my tablet, I checked [the ticket] using the BCLC Lotto! App,” said Wing Wah of the moment he won.

“The first thing that came to my mind was maybe the tablet was wrong. Usually I see $1 or $10, so to see $2 million was new!”

Wing Wah bought his ticket at the PriceSmart Foods on Austin Road in Burnaby.

The first person to learn about the life-changing win was his wife.

“She was very excited!’

The B.C. resident also shared that he plans on using his windfall to buy a new house.

“I’m really excited for more space for my family.”

When Wing Wah was asked how it feels to be a lottery winner, he responded that it all still felt unreal.

“It still feels like I’m dreaming. It doesn’t feel real.”
