An ordinary day is about to turn into an extraordinary one for a lottery player in Canada who just scored a big win.

The most recent lottery draw for Lotto 6/49 was on Wednesday, Feb. 11, and at the time, the Gold Ball prize had grown to $28 million. Although no one won the jackpot, the White Ball prize did go to a lucky winner in Ontario who’s now $1 million richer after they matched the winning numbers 42398724-01.

The Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw winning numbers were 25, 28, 32, 40, 42, and 43, with bonus 16. No one won the $5-million prize during Wednesday’s draw; however, a lottery player from Quebec managed to match five of the six winning numbers and the bonus number to win the second prize. As a result, they’ll take home $242,794.80. A total of 60 winners across Canada matched five of the six winning numbers to score the third prize, which, when split among them, comes out to $1,699.20 per winner.

In B.C., no one won the $500,000 Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw Extra Prize. One lottery player in Ontario was way luckier — they matched the Encore numbers 2466472 to win the $1-million top prize.

The last time someone scored the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball prize was when home-care aide Cora Cuthbert from Kisbey, Sask., won $18 million in the Jan. 7 draw.

“It took a couple of days before it started to hit me. Then I thought of my dad and started crying,” she said. “I remember my parents playing the lottery when I was a kid, and for most of my life, and now, I do. That’s the only reason I play.”

The next Lotto 6/49 draw is on Saturday, Feb. 14, and the Valentine’s Day jackpot is worth $30 million.
