A Canadian man is getting ready to pack his bags after landing a $1-million Lotto 6/49 win with a ticket he purchased in Calgary, Alta.

Son Do, the lucky winner, said he first realized something was up when he checked the numbers without his reading glasses.

“When I checked the ticket, I didn’t bring my reading glasses,” he said when speaking with Lotto Spot. “So, I called my daughter and said, ‘I saw a lot of zeroes, but I’m not sure how many!’”

He brought the ticket home, and his daughter scanned it on the Lotto Spot app to reveal his winnings, and to both their surprise, it was $1 million.

“I said, ‘Oh, I cannot believe this!’” he smiled. “I hugged and kissed my wife; we were all excited.”

Do already has some plans for his winnings, including helping with his children’s education, setting aside some savings, and a long-planned trip to Rome.

“We’re planning a trip to Rome, specifically, we’ve always wanted to go to the Vatican, my family has always dreamed of it.”

Do purchased the ticket from a Plus 1 Convenience Store at 9947 Fairmount Dr. SE in Calgary.

“I haven’t had a chance to vacation for seven years,” he admitted. “After years of working, it’s a big relief to me and my family to have this windfall.”
