Two Canadian lottery players just woke up as brand-new millionaires
Two Canadians just got the kind of news that every lottery player hopes for when checking their ticket.
The lottery winners just woke up to the brand-new reality of being a whole lot richer after the Lotto 6/49 draw that took place on Wednesday, Aug. 26. At the time, the Gold Ball top prize was worth $18 million, and while no one won the jackpot, one Canadian matched the White Ball numbers 31607529-05 to win the $1-million prize. According to WCLC, the ticket was sold in Saskatchewan.
Another winner will soon be celebrating life as a new multimillionaire after scoring the $5-million Classic Draw prize. The winning numbers were 2, 14, 30, 33, 41, and 45, with bonus 39. The winner purchased their ticket somewhere in the Atlantic provinces.
The Classic Draw second prize will be split among three winning tickets after they all matched five of the six numbers and the bonus number. Each of them will receive $70,942.90. The tickets were sold in Quebec, the Atlantic Provinces, and Alberta.
A total of 53 people will split the third prize, taking home $1,686.20 each.

In B.C., no one won the $500,000 Classic Draw Extra Prize and in Ontario, no one won the $1-million Encore prize.
The last time someone in Canada scored the Lotto 6/49 jackpot was on Saturday, Aug. 8. The winner managed to match the Gold Ball winning numbers 23202513-03. According to WCLC, the ticket was sold in Saskatoon, Sask. During the same draw, another player in B.C. also won the $5-million Classic Draw Prize.
For lottery players who want to try their luck, the next Lotto 6/49 draw is on Saturday, Aug. 29, and the Gold Ball Prize is worth $20 million.
