A very consistent lottery player from Ontario finally has a big win under her belt.

The retiree is a long-time fan of playing Instant games with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).

“I buy 15 tickets every Friday because for me, they’re therapeutic. I enjoy playing my tickets while relaxing and watching my favourite TV shows,ā€ said the mother of one.

Shannon was home alone when she discovered she had won the top lottery prize, her first major win.

“I had no one to tell, so I yelled out with pure joy to an empty house,” she recalled while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings.

Shannon says she had a false alarm a few weeks before this very real win.

“I thought I had won $500 on another ticket. I called my niece to help me confirm, but in the end, I hadn’t won,ā€ she shared.

“This time, I knew I was right, so I called her again. She was hesitant to believe it, but she came and picked me up. Together, we went to the store, and sure enough, I had won $50,000! I was so happy.ā€

The retiree doesn’t have any set plans for her lottery windfall.

“Winning feels great! I just need to figure out what I am going to do with it,ā€ she smiled. ā€œFor now, I’ll put it in the bank.”

Shannon bought her winning lottery ticket at BJ’s Convenience Store on West Street in Simcoe.

Make sure to check your tickets — you never know when you might get your first big win like Shannon.
