An Ontario lottery player took a small win and turned it into a six-figure prize.
London resident Kevin Cowan is celebrating after playing the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s (OLG) newest experiential game, Instant Money Machine, and winning $100,000.
The construction worker has been a regular lottery player with the OLG for decades and especially enjoys playing instant tickets.

He said he started playing Money Machine because he noticed it was a new game. It paid off because he nabbed his first major win.
“I won $50 on another Money Machine ticket, and I decided to buy another one with that prize money,” Cowan recalled.
“I wasn’t even paying attention while checking my ticket at the store. Then I noticed the screen said, ‘Money Machine Live Event,’” he added. “My friend asked me what that meant, and I said, ‘I won the top prize!’ I didn’t even believe what I was seeing!”
On the big day, Cowan said his heart was racing before stepping into the Money Machine.
“I could hear the crowd cheering for me as I grabbed those bills. I’m still shaking from the adrenaline,” he smiled. “It’s nerve-racking in there. I can’t believe I won $100,000!”
The construction worker plans to use his lottery windfall to get ahead and to buy a puppy.
Cowan isn’t the only player who’s won big in the Money Machine. A 23-year-old Etobicoke, Ont., resident also hit the jackpot with Money Machine after only a year of playing the lottery.
