
An Ontario lottery player learned that, sometimes, it pays to switch up your routine.
Tecumseh resident Jennifer Tessier is celebrating after winning a Wintario50 prize worth $50,000 in the Aug. 14, 2025, draw.
The healthcare worker told the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) that her go-to games are usually Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max. However, when a cashier brought Wintario50 to her attention, she decided to give it a try.

āI checked my ticket using the OLG app on my phone and I had to do a double-take,ā Tessier recalled while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her windfall. āWhen I realized how much Iād won, I was in disbelief!ā
She shared the amazing news of her lottery win with her family right away.
āMy daughter was excited and couldnāt believe it either,ā she said with a smile.
Tessier said she plans to invest her lottery winnings for the future.
āThis win feels pretty neat. I never thought this would happen to me,ā she concluded.
The winning lottery ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Manning Road in Windsor.

Someone in Canada woke up $15 million richer after Tuesday night’s Lotto Max draw. The lucky lottery player matched all seven winning numbers. Two people managed to match six of the numbers and the bonus number and will therefore split the second prize, with each receiving $66,763.30.
The third prize will be split among 24 winners, each of whom will receive $5,563.60 after matching six of the winning numbers.
