An Ontario woman won a big lottery prize thanks to her late husband.

Brampton resident Gwendolyn Louise Spano is rejoicing after winning a Lotto 6/49 second prize worth $197,614.80 in the Nov. 29, 2025, draw.

The 66-year-old has been a loyal player with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for over 40 years.

She especially enjoys playing Lotto 6/49 and always chooses her own numbers.

“This time, I played the numbers my late husband used to play, plus one random number I picked,” she shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her winnings. Now, she’s delighted to be celebrating her first big win.

“I woke up on Sunday morning, checked my ticket online, and started shaking when I realized I won a large prize,” she recalled. “It was a really exciting feeling.”

Spano shared the amazing news about her lottery windfall with her family, who were all thrilled for her.

“You always wonder if you’ll win big someday. Now, it’s real — I won!” she smiled.

Spano plans to invest the lottery prize and save for her retirement.

She purchased her lucky ticket on OLG.ca.

You could be a big winner like Spano. A lottery player in Canada has had their life completely transformed after scoring an impressive jackpot in Wednesday night’s Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball draw.

According to WCLC, the life-changing ticket was sold in Saskatchewan, and the lucky winner will soon be taking home a massive prize worth $18 million.

A total of eight lottery players also matched five out of six numbers (including the bonus) of the Classic Draw, splitting the second prize. Four winning tickets were sold in Ontario, while the other four were sold in Quebec, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Aldergrove, B.C.
