Canadian grandparents dreamed they won the lottery and it actually came true
Two Ontario grandparents’ dreams literally came true after a huge lottery win.
Aurora residents Eric and Ilona Tomberg enjoy picking up the occasional Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation ticket. Eric says he almost didn’t buy a ticket that day, but thought to himself, “You never know.”
His decision to buy an Instant The Big Spin ticket would ultimately lead the couple to spin the wheel and walk away with a $250,000 lottery win.

Eric recalled forgetting about the lottery ticket for a couple of days after stashing it in the glove compartment of their car.
“One day, when I picked up Ilona, I remembered to tell her about it. I’d had a dream the night before that we’d won The Big Spin,” Eric recounted, while he and Ilona visited the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “When we played our ticket, we won a Spin prize, so we took it to the store for validation. The clerk checked it for us, and we were shocked to discover we’d really won a Big Spin!”
Ilona says she thought she was going to faint from the shock.
“It was unbelievable! I figured we’d won maybe $10,000 or $15,000. When the clerk confirmed the minimum prize would be $100,000, I was thrilled! I couldn’t believe Eric’s dream was coming true!” she exclaimed.

The day of the big spin soon arrived. Ilona says she continued to feel faint as she was the one tasked to spin the wheel.
“I can’t believe I’m here,” she said with tears in her eyes. “I was skeptical in the store, but it feels real now!”
Ilona spun the wheel and landed on $250,000.
“I’m ecstatic and full of adrenaline! This is amazing and a literal dream come true. It’s beautiful beyond description,” Ilona beamed.

The parents plan to share their lottery windfall with their growing family.
“We plan to share our winnings with our daughters,” said the couple.
“We feel like we won the lottery last year when we welcomed our two granddaughters. Now, we’ll set up education funds for them. We’ll also get some new furniture and maybe even give The Bigger Spin a try,” Eric concluded with a laugh.
