Luck rubbed off on an Ontario player after her coworker won a lottery prize.
Oshawa resident Emma Little added Encore onto her lottery ticket, and it paid off. She matched all seven Encore numbers in exact order in the Lotto 6/49 draw on Aug. 27, 2025, to win $1 million.
The 27-year-old said she has only ever bought 10 lottery tickets in her life.

“I bought this ticket on OLG.ca because my coworker had just won a nice prize, so I thought I’d try it out,” explained Little.
While at the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings, Little shared that she wants to use her windfall to help others.
“I want to make sure the people around me are taken care of,” she said.
Little also plans to get her own place and travel around the world.
“I’ve never had my own place before, so it’ll be nice,” she shared. “I’ve also never travelled outside of Canada, so I’d like to do some travelling. I really want to go to Jamaica as well.”
Little isn’t the only Canadian who has won a huge prize with only a few tickets under their belt.
Recently, a man from Quebec was shocked to discover that he had hit the jackpot after only a few weeks of playing the lottery.
Chaudière-Appalaches resident Alexis Michaud won a share of the Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot in the Sept. 10 draw.
Michaud’s winning ticket was only his third-ever Lotto 6/49 ticket, which he bought on the Loto-Québec app. The lucky winner found out he had won when he checked his online account after work the day after the draw.
