Using a routine set of numbers as part of his regular lottery ticket purchase has paid off handsomely for a Canadian lottery player.
Dale N. of Langley, B.C., revealed that he had used a series of numbers that he had been playing for years for a ticket for the Sept. 30, 2026, Lotto 6/49 draw.
This sequence was combined with numbers from family birthdays, and the technique worked because Dale won a $1-million guaranteed prize from the ticket.

Dale first checked his ticket on the Lotto! App, and when he realized what he had won, his first thought was that he wanted to help his children.
“It feels awesome, not because of the money, but because I can help my kids with future expenses,” he said.
The Metro Vancouver resident, who bought the ticket from the Douglas Park Market in Langley, said that he doesn’t have any major plans to spend the money.
However, Dale added that he would like to travel to England to explore museums and discover the country’s history.

And while he doesn’t have any plans to celebrate his windfall, Dale revealed that he may have more time to enjoy some of his favourite activities.
They include cooking, salmon fishing, and spending time with his dogs.
Another recent B.C. lottery player also has plans for how to spend their jackpot after a life-changing win.
Seble G. of Vancouver, B.C., was at a gas station to pick up some ice cream when she decided to check her lottery ticket for the Sept. 9, 2026, Lotto 6/49 draw.
The treat was soon forgotten because Seble won a cool $1 million from her ticket.
When asked if she had any thoughts on how she would like to spend her Lotto 6/49 jackpot, Seble revealed that she wants to plan for the next few years and also plan for her family.
“This also allows me to feel closer to buying a home,” she said. “It’s very unreal. I feel blessed.”
