An Ontario lottery player is rejoicing after nabbing her first major win.
Hamilton resident Cindy Klodt matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the May 9, 2025, Lotto Max draw to win $100,000.
The environmental services worker has been playing with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) since she was old enough to buy a ticket. She usually plays twice a week and enjoys a variety of games, including Lotto Max, Lotto 6/49, Ontario 49, and Lottario.
Klodt always adds Encore onto her lottery tickets regardless of whether she chooses her own numbers or opts for the Quick Pick feature. This paid off, awarding the mom of five her first big win.

OLG
“The Lotto Max jackpot was high, so I decided to pick up a ticket,” she recalled, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim her windfall. “It was one in the morning, and I was getting ready for work when I checked the winning numbers. I remember telling my daughter, ‘I think I won something.’”
Later that day, Klodt finally scanned her lottery ticket on the OLG app to confirm that she had, indeed, struck gold.
“I saw a prize of $100,000 and was shocked,” she said, beaming. “I called my daughter to tell her how much I’d won, and she was in disbelief, so I sent her a screenshot. She was just as surprised as I was!”
Klodt then went to share the amazing news with her partner, who was fast asleep.
“I woke him up and showed him my phone. He was shocked and confused at the same time,” she said with a laugh. “We were all so happy about this win.”
When asked how it feels to win big, she said, “At first, you can’t believe it actually happened. Then, you get butterflies and a tingling feeling as you’re overwhelmed with emotion. It’s a very good feeling.”
Klodt plans to buy a new car with her lottery windfall.
She bought the winning ticket at Canco/One Stop on Barton Street East in Hamilton.
