A Quebec lottery player was in disbelief after winning a massive prize at her go-to grocery store.
Montréal resident Chantal Bolduc won the $1 million top prize in the Feb. 5 Extra draw.
Bolduc always shops at the same grocery store in Delson. She decided to validate a few of her lottery tickets on one of her visits to the retailer, including a Lotto 6/49 ticket with Extra.

When validating this ticket, she heard a peculiar sound.
“The clerk asked me if I knew. So I answered, ‘Did I know what?’ And then, he said, ‘You won $1 million with Extra!’” Bolduc told Loto-Québec.
Her first reaction was to hug the clerk.
“I felt like I was in a dream!” she said when claiming her prize.
A win for Bolduc was also a win for the Pasquier grocery store in Delson. It will receive a 10 per cent commission of $10,000.
Bolduc isn’t the only Quebec resident who has won the lottery recently.
David Morin is a 30-year-old resident of the Capitale-Nationale region. One day, he had planned to go fat biking but needed a snack, so he decided to pop into Dépanneur Éclair, a convenience store in Quebec City.
While at the store, he opted to add another purchase to his snack — a Gagnant à vie ticket, which costs $5. It wasn’t until he returned home that he played his ticket.
When Morin scratched his ticket, he couldn’t believe what he saw: three Vie symbols in the same game, which meant he had won the game’s top prize. However, the doubtful lottery player wanted to be sure, so he checked his ticket using the Loto–Québec app, which confirmed that he had won $1,000 a week for life.
