An Ontario woman received an amazing surprise wedding anniversary present thanks to a huge lottery win.

Petawawa resident Cathy D. said “yes” to Encore, and it paid off. She matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the June 10, 2026, Lotto 6/49 draw to win $100,000.

The retiree told the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) that she won the prize on her 37th wedding anniversary.

“I always add Encore to my tickets,” she shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her cheque. “When I first checked my ticket using the OLG app on my phone, I didn’t believe it. I thought the app was broken!”

The mom of five and grandma of 14 described her experience as a lottery winner as “amazing and overwhelming.”

Cathy plans to use her windfall to take a well-deserved trip and save for the future.

She bought her winning lottery ticket at Becker’s on Petawawa Boulevard in Petawawa.

Cathy isn’t the only mom who won big recently.

A mom from Quebec recently discovered she won the lottery during a busy time in her life.

Capitale-Nationale resident Maude Simard got the surprise of a lifetime as she was packing up her home for a move on July 1, 2026. She checked her Lotto 6/49 ticket and realized she had won $1 million in the June 27 draw.

The day before moving into her new place, she took a break from packing to pick up her million-dollar lottery cheque.
