Canadian excited to be debt-free after huge lottery win
Some financial weight has been lifted off a lottery player in Ontario after winning a huge prize.
Port Dover resident Carly Majik matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the March 27, 2025, Daily Grand draw to win $100,000.
The librarian has been playing the lottery with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for just seven months. She enjoys playing Daily Grand, Lotto 6/49, Ontario 49, and Lottario, purchasing tickets through her OLG.ca account.

The married mother of one chooses numbers based on special occasions like family birthdays and anniversaries, and adds Encore to all her plays. An email from OLG informed Majik of her first big win.
“I was at home when I got the email. I was tired after a restless sleep and was unsure of its authenticity, so I hesitated to open it,” Majik recounted, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her winnings.
She reviewed the email again when she was fully awake later that day.
“A sense of relief washed over me. I shared the news with my parents and in-laws. They were so excited for me,” said Majik.
The lottery winner has some important plans with her first major windfall.
“I never imagined I’d be debt-free. Winning this prize feels miraculous,” Majik beamed.
“I plan to pay off bills, buy a shed for my backyard, and invest for my daughter’s future,” she concluded.
She bought the winning lottery ticket on OLG.ca.
