Canadian stunned by SECOND lottery win in less than a year

Winning the lottery already seems far-fetched for most people, but one woman beat the most unlikely odds after winning for the second time.

AnnMarie Jeremiah of Ajax, Ont. is a public service worker and a mother of three who has been playing the lottery for over a decade, often opting for Lotto 6/49, Lotto Max, and a mix of Instant games.

Jeremiah recalled how an ordinary day turned out to be a memorable one while she was checking her tickets.

“It was just a regular day. I was scanning my tickets on the OLG app when I stumbled upon this big win,” she said.

After playing the Instant Crossword Tripler, she had won a $100,000. When she saw the “Big Winner” message on the screen, she said she was in disbelief that she had to check the rules and details on the back of the ticket to make sure she had really won.

She collected her prize earlier this month.

“As I realized it was true, I was overcome with happiness. When I told my husband, he was shocked and could only say, ‘Again?'” recalled Jeremiah.

That’s because she had won an even bigger prize less than a year ago.

Jeremiah said she was at home making tea when she checked her ticket and discovered that she had won an Encore prize in the April 20, 2024, Lotto 6/49 draw. At first, she thought she had won a $100,000 prize. However, a closer look revealed more zeroes, and she realized she was now $1 million richer.

When she shared the news with her husband, she said, “It took him a few scans on the app to believe it, too!”

After her 2024 win, Jeremiah said she would use her $1 million windfall to pay off her mortgage and put the rest into investments. She also plans to invest and save her $100,000 win.

While at the OLG Prize Centre for the second time, she said, “I feel beyond blessed. To have won twice is a surreal feeling. Now that’s something I can brag about!”

The winning ticket was purchased at Kitchen Food Fair on Middlecote Drive in Ajax.
