Canadian lottery player instantly $40M richer after Lotto Max win
Someone in Canada just discovered some life-changing news this weekend: they’re a brand-new multimillionaire after snagging a Lotto Max jackpot.
The Lotto Max draw occurred on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, and the winning numbers were 03, 05, 08, 25, 29, 32, 43, and bonus 31. One lucky lottery player managed to match all seven numbers to win the top prize.
“Check your Lotto Max tickets, Ontario!” reads a statement from OLG. “The $40 million Lotto Max jackpot-winning ticket from last night’s draw was sold in Oshawa!”
Another Ontario resident will have a reason to celebrate after winning the second prize worth $176,610.40. According to OLG, the winning ticket was sold in Bowmanville, which is not far from Oshawa.

It’s been a lucky start to the year for several Ontario lottery players, as it’s now the third jackpot win for the province in 2025.
“The first was a $60 million jackpot won after the Jan. 21, 2025, draw — that ticket was sold in Etobicoke,” states OLG. “The second Lotto Max jackpot worth $25 million from the Jan. 31, 2025, draw was won with a ticket sold in Willowdale.”
No one won the $500,000 Lotto Max Extra or the $1-million Encore prize. The Lotto Max jackpot has reset to $10 million, and the next draw is set for Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Elsewhere in Canada, one lottery player became an instant millionaire after winning the Lotto 6/49 White Ball prize worth $1 million. According to PlayNow.com, the winning number was 70068892-01.
Although no one won the $5 million Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw prize worth $5 million, three people split the second prize, each winning $68,388.50. Two winning tickets were sold in Ontario and one in Quebec.
No one won the Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw Extra Prize worth $500,000 or the Encore prize worth $1 million. The next Lotto 6/49 jackpot is set for Wednesday, Feb. 26, and the Gold Ball prize is worth $20 million.
