Three Canadians split Lotto 6/49 Classic Prize as jackpot soars to $34 million
Although no one won the jackpot, several lucky Canadians still have a reason to celebrate this week after sharing a massive lottery prize that could change their lives.
The Lotto 6/49 draw took place on Wednesday, Oct. 8, and at the time, the top lottery prize was worth $32 million. Even though there were no jackpot winners this time, someone did win the White Ball prize worth $1 million after purchasing a lottery ticket that matched the winning number 67164798-06. According to PlayNow, the ticket was sold in Quebec.
But that wasn’t the only big prize up for grabs — there was also the Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw prize worth $5 million. The winning numbers were 17, 22, 24, 40, 42, and 46, with bonus 29. Three lottery players managed to match all six winning numbers. As a result, they’ll each split the top prize and will walk away with their share worth $1,666,666.70. Two of the winning tickets were sold in Ontario, while one was sold online in New Brunswick.

Another three Canadians will also split the second prize after matching five of the six numbers and the bonus number, and each will take home $81,294.20. One ticket was purchased in Quebec, while two were purchased in Ontario.
As for the third prize, it will be shared between 69 Canadians across the country who’ll each receive $1,484.20.
No one in B.C. won the Classic Draw Extra prize $500,000, and similarly, no one in Ontario scored the $1-million Encore top prize.
It’s been a while since someone won the top prize. The last time someone won the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball prize was on Aug. 27, when Quebec resident Claude Boucher won the $46-million Gold Ball Jackpot.
The next Lotto 6/49 draw is on Saturday, Oct. 11, and the Gold Ball prize is now worth $34 million. There are now 18 balls left in the draw.
