A Canadian lottery winner says he hopes to take care of his kids’ futures with his newfound cash to the tune of $1,000,000.

Mark Watters knew there was a million-dollar Lotto 6/49 winner in Calgary after the March 19 draw, but he didn’t check his ticket until the weekend.

“I ran out of the store to call my wife,” he laughed, telling the Western Canadian Lottery Corporation (WCLC) while claiming his prize. “She didn’t believe me, so I went back into the store to take a picture of the screen.”

Turns out, Watters was indeed the million-dollar winner in Calgary, an experience he called “surreal.”

As for what Watters has in mind for what he going to do with the recent windfall, two things are on the agenda.

“I was thinking of maybe getting a new truck. And I want to set up funds for the kids’ futures – I want to speak with an advisor to plan it all out.”

Watters won the Gold Ball draw on Lotto 6/49’s March 19 draw. He won the million-dollar guaranteed prize with the selection 36935905-01. He purchased his winning ticket from Douglasdale Rexall located at 160-11520 24th St. SE in Calgary.

The next Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball jackpot is worth $58 million, and the draw is set for Saturday, May 3.
