Canadians running out of time to claim chunk of $1.85M Keurig settlement

The deadline is fast approaching for Canadians who may be eligible to claim money from a class-action settlement against Keurig.

In January, claims administrator Eqitas announced that Keurig had agreed to pay a $1.85-million settlement after being hit with a lawsuit in October 2025 alleging that the company sold pods and brewers in Canada that “contained misleading representations as to the recyclability and/or disposability of the pods.”

The Ontario Superior Court of Justice approved the settlement in December, and the notice states that the settlement is a compromise and “not an admission of liability or wrongdoing by Keurig.”

Eligible Canadians have until July 8 to file a claim.

Are you eligible?

You could file a claim if you bought Keurig K-Cup single-serve coffee pods and/or Keurig coffee machines or brewing systems that were sold in Canada from June 8, 2016, to Dec. 8, 2025.

Once court-approved legal fees have been deducted from the $1.85-million settlement, the remaining amount will be paid to class members.

According to the settlement website, you could receive the following:

  • For K-Cup Pods — if you don’t have proof of purchase, you may receive up to $7 per claim. If you have proof of purchase for at least one pod, you may receive 50 cents for every 10 pods purchased, up to a maximum of $50 per claim.
  • For K-Cup Brewers — if you have proof of purchase for at least one brewer or pod, you may receive up to $25 per claim.

You can submit a single claim for both Pods and Brewers.

How can you file a claim?

If you meet the eligibility requirements, you must fill out a claim form. You can submit one claim per household or business. All claims must be submitted online by July 8, 11:59 P.M. E.T.

You’ll have to provide your personal information, such as address, email, phone number, and proof of purchase. You’ll also be asked to choose between receiving your payments by e-transfer or cheque, which will include a $3.75 deduction.
