Car owners are urged to be vigilant, as certain Ford vehicles are being recalled across Canada due to a camera issue that poses a safety risk.
On May 9, Transport Canada announced that Ford is recalling certain cars, SUVs, and trucks due to a safety issue with the visual system.
“On certain vehicles, a software problem could cause the rearview camera image not to display or to freeze when the transmission is shifted into reverse,” reads the announcement.
“A rearview camera image that doesn’t display correctly could reduce a driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle while backing up. This could increase the risk of a crash.”
Ford said that it will notify vehicle owners by mail or through wireless over-the-air software updates to eligible vehicles with updated Ford Sync software. People are also encouraged to schedule an appointment and bring their vehicle to a Ford dealership to have its software updated.
