Two Canadian spots chosen among the world's finest hotels

Canadian hotels have been on the receiving end of heaps of praise over the course of 2025, and two more spots have been named among the world’s finest establishments.

This time, travel guide publisher Fodor’s Travel is the publication shining a light on the Canadian spots.

One of the hotels is located in Quebéc, while the other is located in British Columbia — a spot that has received many accolades before.

Fodor’s Travel writes, “The finest hotels range in style, price point, and design, with some serving as a luxury getaway amidst an urban oasis and others blending seamlessly into the surrounding wilderness, offering serenity.”

“Perhaps you’re craving a city escape offering luxury and thoughtful amenities, or you might be seeking a dreamy retreat in nature or the countryside, where a beautiful stay is accompanied by a slower pace of life. Whatever the case, we’ve got a hotel for you,” it adds.

Quebéc’s historic hotel, which is over 100 years old, is iconic.

“When stepping inside this ornate 1893-constructed palace, you’ll feel less like a tourist wandering a museum, and more like grand nobility arriving home,” Fodor’s Travel says.

Fodor’s writes that despite the opulent exterior, Canadian hospitality and kindness shine through the prestigious outer shell.

“There’s warmth in the staff’s easy grace–in the sense that this castle, despite its grandeur, belongs to everyone who walks through its doors. It remains, simply and unquestionably, the beating heart of Quebéc City.”

Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge

Clayoquot, a Wilderness Lodge and resort located in Tofino, was the second Canadian pick from Fodor’s Travel’s finest hotels in Canada.

The Tofino establishment was actually on Fodor’s list last year.

Of this year’s selection, Fodor’s writes, “This remote retreat has been welcoming travellers since 2000 and operates seasonally from May through September. In 2024, it was awarded Three Michelin Keys—one of only two properties in Canada to receive the distinction.”

Fodor’s Travel mentions the variety of things visitors have access to at Clayoquot, including horseback riding, canyoning, heli-hiking or whale watching.

“For a taste of the region, the Cookhouse serves three daily meals, including a multi-course dinner each evening that highlights hyperlocal ingredients from Vancouver Island and across British Columbia.”
