Taking advice is a good trait to have, and one woman who listened to her husband’s suggestion to buy lottery tickets has netted a cool $250,000.
Crystal Skelton of Sherwood Park, Alta., says she was taking a break from buying lottery tickets but decided to give it another go at her husband’s suggestion. That decision led to a surprise she never saw coming: a $250,000 win on the Sept. 12 Lotto 6/49 and Extra draw.
“I hadn’t bought tickets in years,” she explained while speaking with Lotto Spot. “But my husband mentioned that I should, so I started again.”
When she stopped to check her ticket, something different caught her ear.
“The sound on the machine sounded different, and I wasn’t paying attention,” she laughed. “Then a guy said congratulations.”
“I looked up, and it said, ‘Major Winner’ on the screen,” she continued. “I started to shake and called my husband, who was outside in the car, to come in and see.”
As the excitement started to settle in, Skelton started thinking about her plans for the prize, looking to buy a newer vehicle and put money down on a home.
The Sherwood Park resident purchased her winning ticket from the 7-Eleven located at 15310 18th St. NW in Edmonton. She won her prize by matching the Extra number selected on the Sept. 12 draw – 5572910.
