A Quebec company saw the opportunity and took it in a Super Bowl ad that pokes fun at the tariff tensions between Canada and the US.

Hundreds of millions of eyes were on the big game Sunday night, and viewers were certainly entertained.

From Kendrick Lamar’s stadium-sized Drake diss at the halftime show to Taylor Swift getting booed, fans were treated to more than just an exciting game.

And, of course, you can’t have a Super Bowl without the commercial breaks filled with brands flexing their best work in star-studded ads.

While you may be used to major American companies like Nike and Dunkin Donuts buying pricey ad space during the Super Bowl, there were a couple of Canadian commercials.

One Super Bowl ad by Quebec-based restoration company Qualinet caught the internet’s attention.

It was shared to X on Sunday, amassing nearly 500,000 views overnight.

“This Quebec Super Bowl ad is the best thing to come out of The Great Canada-US Trade War of 2025,” reads the post.

The commercial shows an older American couple panicking over a flooded basement. We know they’re in the US because of all the American flags in their home, and the location tag of Plattsburgh, New York (yes, that’s a real city).

“We need to call the best!” says the husband.

“Earl, they’re in Quebec! They’re Canadian,” whispers the wife.

“Darn it! Make the call, but don’t tell anyone,” answers Earl as he puts down a framed photo of US President Donald Trump.

The wife then greets Qualinet with a “bonjour” over the phone.

The dig at the tumultuous Canada-US relations is well-timed as Trump promises to impose 25% tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum imports.

The commercial was posted on Qualinet’s YouTube channel and received tons of compliments.

“Really good advertising concept, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen such a funny ad. Well done, Qualinet šŸ˜ƒšŸ˜€šŸ˜,” reads one translated from French.

“Congratulations, Qualinet! Opportunistic marketing at its best! Thank you for making me laugh on this day of Trump threats!” added another.

It isn’t the only Canadian Super Bowl ad that took a jab at the US. Viewers were also surprised to see a commercial from the Province of Ontario reiterate how it’s a dependable, stable, and secure partner to its neighbours to the south.
