A young Canadian couple is getting media attention from across the border after improvising their way through a stroller-less visit to Home Depot.
Wow, it’s been a great month for home hardware stores across Canada.Â
Last week, Justin Trudeau was spotted dancing his pants off at a Home Hardware store in Montreal.
This week, a family from Winnipeg is making international headlines after a trip to Home Depot took an unexpectedly adorable turn.
The father, Tristan, was browsing the aisles for some good old-fashioned household supplies when he decided there was no reason a missing stroller should bring the shopping trip to a halt. So he did MacGyver proud and used a Home Depot bucket to carry baby Noelle instead.

The moment was captured and shared by Channa, Tristan’s wife and mom to Noelle, Hayes, and Sophie. Together, they’ve been creating family-friendly content on YouTube as The Chan Fam for years.
The family has built a loyal following of nearly 400,000 fans across all social media platforms, but this particular Home Depot outing ended up getting attention from abroad.
Even major North American brands — though, oddly enough, Home Depot has stayed mum thus far — jumped into the comments on Channa’s Instagram post.
“Just a princess in her construction-site carriage,” wrote the major diaper company Pull-Ups.
“Oh to be a smiling baby carried around in a Home Depot bucket,” commented Circle K.
“Improvise, adapt, and overcome,” added snack brand Fruit by the Foot.
And while comments from big brands might seem like nothing more than fun to us regular folks, they can be a pretty big deal for young content creators. One viral post can put a family on the radar of companies willing to pay big bucks for sponsored content, potentially turning a Home Depot bucket ride into a little extra money towards the kids’ college funds.
Meanwhile, Channa’s usual followers were having fun with the situation.
“She’ll be hanging drywall by kindergarten,” one person joked.
Another simply commented: “Dad-maxing.”
“Resourceful 🙌 You can’t rush a dad at Home Depot. It’s basically his Sephora,” another user wrote.
Honestly, that last comment might be the most accurate description of the whole situation.Â
ABC News shared the video on its website on Aug. 23, sending even more users to Channa’s post to marvel at the unexpected U.S. media attention.
Daily Hive reached out to Channa for comment on how the recent publicity has impacted her family but had not heard back at the time of publication.
