A Canadian dad is gunning to buy a brand-new snowmobile for his family, after netting a cool $1-million lottery win just before the end of last year.

Fort McMurray, Alta., resident Roland Landry won the million bucks on Play Alberta, pucking up a Maxmillions prize on the Dec. 30 Lotto Max draw.

After checking his email the morning following the draw, Ronald had a hard time keeping his composure, even tagging in his boss to do the celebrating for him while he processed the win.

“I didn’t really believe it, am I reading this right!?” he told Play Alberta that he thought to himself when the email about the prize first came through. “It was kind of pure disbelief; I asked one of my coworkers if I was reading it right because I was so freaked out, and then he kind of lost his mind and jumped up and down.”

Landry, a father of twin three-year-olds, even had a hard time convincing his wife that they were winners.

He added that while he has no concrete long-term plans for the money, he is planning to pick up a new snowmobile for the family while investing the rest of it.

The winning ticket was purchased on Play Alberta, the province’s only regulated iGaming website.
