Multiple gas range models recalled across Canada after injuries

Canadians might want to take a closer look at their gas ranges, as thousands of models are part of a recall in Canada due to a potential safety risk.

On Thursday, Health Canada announced that certain Frigidaire gas ranges are part of a nationwide recall due to a “burn hazard.”

“The ovens in the ranges can experience a delayed ignition of the oven’s bake burner, which can create a potential risk of burns,” reads the statement.

There have been several reported incidents related to this recall.

As of March 11, Electrolux Group said it received three reports of incidents in Canada, including one injury. That number is much higher in the U.S., with 59 reported incidents, including 30 injuries. Health Canada is also asking Canadians to report any incidents related to the recall by filling out an online form.

Around 5,318 units of the affected products were sold in Canada from approximately June 2025 to January 2026. The gas ranges were manufactured in the U.S.

If you find that you own the gas that’s part of the recall, immediately stop using it. However, you can continue to use the cooktop burners. The company is urging consumers to arrange for a free professional in-home installation of a new bake burner.

To see if your gas range is part of the recall, check the serial number located in the drawer beneath the oven. Below are the model numbers that are being recalled:

“The safety of our consumers is a very serious matter and not something that Electrolux Group takes lightly,” reads the company’s recall site.

Canadians might also want to check their kitchens and fridges for other recalled items.

Recently, Health Canada announced that it’s recalling thousands of Tim Hortons mugs sold online and in stores due to a burn hazard.

Costco also issued multiple food recalls, such as The Worthy Crumb Cheddar Chive Scones, the Delici Dubai Chocolate Mousse, and the Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken Fried Rice.
