Canadians flying with Porter can now earn more points towards free flights
Canadians who fly with Porter Airlines can now earn more rewards to put towards future trips, thanks to a new partnership with BMO’s loyalty program Blue Rewards.
The two companies announced Thursday that Porter is now the preferred airline partner of Blue Rewards, which was formerly Air Miles before its rebrand in January.
Members who link their Blue Rewards and VIPorter accounts can earn more VIPorter points faster, plus bonus Blue Points when booking eligible Porter flights through Blue Rewards Travel.
There’s even a little something extra for those who sign up.
New members who set up accounts will receive 500 Blue Points and 500 VIPorter points as a welcome bonus.
After that, linked members can earn additional VIPorter points every time they fly with Porter. Those with an eligible linked BMO payment card will earn one extra VIPorter point for every $1 spent on Porter flights, while other linked members will earn one extra point for every $2 spent.
Members who use their existing Blue Points to book a Porter flight through Blue Rewards Travel can get extra bonus points depending on how much the flight costs.
- 1,000 bonus Blue Points for eligible flights valued at up to $350
- 3,750 bonus Blue Points for flights valued from $351 to $450
- 7,500 bonus Blue Points for flights valued at more than $451
The loyalty program says that in the coming months, members will be able to swap Blue Points for VIPorter points. It’s a two-to-one deal, meaning 2,000 Blue Points could get you 1,000 VIPorter points to use toward a future flight.
These new Porter perks are just one way Blue Rewards members can rack up points when they shop. The program also has partnerships with several major retailers across Canada, including Dollarama, Sephora, and Walmart.
