No longer will Canadians have to look south of the border to get their Bachan’s fix as the Japanese barbecue sauce brand has announced that it’s officially launching in Canada.
“Canada has long been one of our most requested markets,” said Justin Gill, Bachan’s founder and CEO. “We’re excited to officially launch and make Bachan’s more accessible to Canadian consumers who value bold flavour, high-quality ingredients, and versatility in the kitchen.”
As part of its Canadian launch, Bachan’s is introducing its three top-selling sauces: The Original, Roasted Garlic, and Sweet Honey Japanese barbecue sauces.
Products are expected to be available at nearly 2,000 leading national and regional retailers, including Loblaw’s Market, Real Canadian Superstore, IGA Quebec, Metro Quebec, and Metro Ontario, with Bachan’s 34 oz bottle also available at Costco locations across Canada, and distribution continuing to expand throughout the year.
According to Bachan’s website, the recipe for its Japanese barbecue sauce has been passed down in Gill’s family for generations.
“My bachan, Judy Yokoyama, was born in Sebastopol, CA in 1936. She spent her whole life here, except for a two-year displacement in a Japanese internment camp. There, the love and support that she sustained with her family – oftentimes over a shared meal – is what kept them strong and connected,” wrote Gill. “Bachan later taught our family’s authentic Japanese barbecue sauce recipe to me and my parents, and now I get to share it with you as a way to celebrate my family’s rich heritage and flavours.”
Bachan’s also added that its sauce is made using “authentic, clean, and simple ingredients” including soy sauce, aged mirin, ginger, garlic, and green onion.
“Unlike traditional barbecue sauces, Bachan’s is reminiscent of a traditional Japanese tare sauce, designed for grilling, marinating, stir-frying, and drizzling,” added the brand.
You can now grab Bachan’s Japanese Barbecue Sauce throughout Canada starting today, as well as order directly through its website or on Amazon.
