Man leaves woman in critical condition after sexual assault

The Calgary Police Service is asking the public’s assistance in locating a man believed to be responsible for a sexual assault that left a woman in critical condition.

The assault is believed to have occurred just before 4:45 am on Sunday, July 14, according to a release from the Calgary Police Service, when officers found a woman suffering from severe injuries at the 500 block of 44th Street SE.

The woman was transported to hospital in critical condition. As of Monday’s release, she remained critical but stable.

An initial search of the area for the suspect yielded no results for police officers, who are now asking the public if anyone may have witnessed the incident occur or may have dashcam footage from the time of the assault.

Police are also speaking with residents in the area and reviewing CCTV footage of the area.

The suspect is described in the release as a tall male.
