WestJet cuts two U.S. routes from Alberta this winter
Travellers flying out of Alberta will have fewer direct options to the U.S. this winter, with WestJet removing two Alberta routes from its schedule.
According to AeroRoutes, WestJet has removed its Calgary to Chicago O’Hare and Edmonton to Atlanta routes from its winter 2026-27 schedule.
The Calgary to Chicago O’Hare route was scheduled to operate four times a week during the winter travel season, but has now been removed from the schedule between Oct. 25, 2026, and April 24, 2027.
Edmonton’s service to Atlanta, which had already been previously suspended through Oct. 24, 2026, has now been removed from WestJet’s winter schedule entirely.

AeroRoutes says schedule changes come after a comparison of WestJet’s June 14 and July 26 schedule filings, which showed the routes had been removed from the airline’s upcoming winter schedule.
The Alberta route changes were not the only cuts made to WestJet’s schedule. Vancouver is set to see the biggest impact, losing five U.S. routes this winter, while Regina, Saskatoon, and Toronto are each losing direct flights to Las Vegas.
The cancellation of Calgary to Chicago O’Hare and Edmonton to Atlanta flights isn’t the only Alberta cuts WestJet has made over the past few months.
Back in June, the airline announced cuts to its brand-new service from Calgary to São Paulo, Brazil, which was scheduled to operate three times a week starting on Nov. 8, 2026.
