This weekend could be a stormy one for Calgary

A storm is on the horizon for Calgary.

The Weather Network’s seven-day forecast is calling for a risk of thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday, though we’ll be seeing a gorgeous summer day before all the frightening thunder and lightning.

This Friday will continue with sunny skies and a high of 23°C, leading to a crisp, clear night perfect for the Stampede fireworks set to be on display.

The sun will still shine and the temperatures will still reach into the 20s come Saturday and Sunday, but the weekend brings with it the chance for stormy skies as well.

The Weather Network forecasts a 40% chance of precipitation on both days, though will likely see just 1 mm (or less, on Sunday) of rainfall.

Tuesday and Wednesday will also see the chance of thunderstorms, but they’ll bring much more rain to the tune of 10 to 15 mm per day.

Things are expected to clear and warm up by next Thursday and Friday, though we’ll have to face up to 55 mm of rainfall before getting there.

So be sure to enjoy the sunny Friday while you can, Calgary.
