The Weather Network releases its Halloween Forecast

While it has been freakishly warm across Canada this fall (except for you, Calgary), the forecasted Halloween weather may scare even the bravest trick-or-treaters.

The Weather Network has released its Halloween forecast, and it’s generally expected to dip across the country, just in time for those epic costumes.

“With fall in Canada, you’re never quite sure what’s lurking behind the corner,” said Chris Scott, Chief Meteorologist at The Weather Network. “In the final days leading up to Halloween, conditions will vary sharply across Canada and this active weather pattern has the potential for a few surprises, so be sure to check the forecast frequently.”

Besides checking the weather, trick-or-treaters are also encouraged to take note of the sunset times to plan warmer costumes with reflective tape, or incorporating glow sticks to remain visible, according to the Weather Network.

Here are the Halloween forecast predictions for some of Canada’s major cities – including Saturday night predictions, AKA when you’re most likely to party this year.

For those looking to party this Halloween weekend, you’ll be needing some capes and waterproof makeup. Saturday in Toronto is forecasting light rain, with a colder night at 6°C. On Halloween day, there is a chance of showers, and the night time temperature will dip down to 4°C, so definitely plan ahead.

Lots of rain expected for Montreal this Saturday, making it a wet Halloween party weekend. Dressing as Mary Poppins with an umbrella may be ideal for those heading out, although it will feel like a mild 12°C. By Halloween day, there’s a chance of showers and temperatures will drop to 7°C at night.

Heading west, Calgary is getting a rare spring day this weekend. Although it will feel like a warm 19°C on Saturday morning, the temperatures will decrease by 17°C that day, feeling like a chilly 2°C by nightfall. But that sunshine will continue to Halloween day, although there is snow in the forecast for Halloween night… how surprising.

Like Calgary, there’s lots of sunshine in the forecast for Vancouver this weekend. Saturday night’s 8°C low is ideal Halloween temperatures, not too cold and definitely not raining. It’s practically costume proof weather, and the good news is, that continues on to Halloween day. By Tuesday, the weather will drop slightly but the night is expected to be clear and 7°C, which is actually above average for this time of year.

So, in terms of Halloween weather this year, you win, Vancouver. You win.
