Twelve employees at an Edmonton store have tested positive for COVID-19.

In a statement, Walmart Canada spokesperson, Felicia Fefer, confirmed the outbreak has taken place at the South Park Walmart Supercentre in Edmonton located at 3931 Calgary Trail NW.

“Out of an abundance of caution, associates identified as being in close contact have been directed to self-isolate,” said Fefer.

“The store is currently closed and will reopen in the coming days when we can offer the very best experience for our customers. We will be conducting a deep cleaning.”

Fefer added that Walmart is working “very closely” with Alberta Health Services.

“Customers with questions should contact Alberta Health Services for more information,”
she said.

Walmart is taking several measures to ensure the health and well-being of its customers and staff, including increased cleaning of stores, wellness checks that include a temperature check for all associates at the start of each shift, installing plexi-glass dividers, and implementing a mandatory mask policy.
