Calgary’s West Hillhurst community is about to gain a new foodie addition, in the way of Vintage Caffeine Company, an independent cafe offering coffee, tea, pastries, panini, and desserts.
Located at 101 – 19th Street NW (near Kensington Road), Vintage Caffeine Company will open its doors on April 8, 2016. It is the first tenant to occupy the space, which is attached to the SAVOY, a luxury condo built by Truman Homes.

Coffee and tea will be the major focus at Vintage Caffeine Company, with desserts and pastries secondary. A small selection of seasonally-inspired panini will also be available and the only food items prepared in-house.

Determined to stay local and bring some of the best products Calgary has to offer to the people of the North West, Vintage Caffeine Company works solely with suppliers and companies that do not have a retail presence in North West Calgary.

As such, beans will be supplied by award-winning roasters Phil & Sebastian, while pastry and dessert will be supplied by scratch bakers Patisserie Du Soleil and Pretty Sweet YYC. Even the bread, meat, and cheese used will be local and Canadian.
In terms of ambience and design, co-owner Dilesh Sidhpura says the space offers a “refined industrial take on a vintage vibe”. The owners have worked hard to create a bright, uplifting space with lots of natural elements accented by matte black fixtures and brushed bronze lighting.

Size wise, the café is quite compact with 17 seats. However, the space boasts a 12-foot custom-made wood high-top table, which will hopefully inspire a more European way of drinking coffee (standing up).
