University of Calgary ranks among the world's top universities for 2027

If you’re looking for a good place to study, the University of Calgary (U of C) has just been ranked on a list of the top universities in the world for 2027.

QS released the QS World University Rankings 2027, and the U of C came in at 249 with a score of 51.5 out of 100.

The 2027 QS World University Ranking evaluated a pool of over 8,000 universities to create its list of 1,500. It said that they “represent the best of the best when it comes to international higher education.”

U of C scored an academic reputation of 48.6 and an employer reputation of 39.3.

QS measured employer reputation by surveying employers worldwide and academic reputation by asking academic experts to nominate schools based on their area of expertise.

QS stressed that these are two of the most important indicators in its rankings.

“And with good reason. They provide unique tangible insights into the slippery concept of institutional reputation, driven by survey data that is unmatched in its scale in the sector.”

Another important aspect of the ranking is employment outcomes, for which the U of C scored 55.9.

“For many students, a successful career is the primary goal of their university education and therefore is important to measure an institution’s track record in this field. Equally, an institution who produces graduates who go on to achieve success in fields such as the arts, politics, business, etc., can point to their role in the development of those careers.”

Four Canadian schools managed to crack the top 100 in the ranking, including McGill, which came in at 30; the University of Toronto at 32; the University of British Columbia at 45; and the University of Alberta at 96.
