UofC Students' Union hosting Sexual and Gender Wellness Week

Feb 5 2019, 5:11 am

The University of Calgary’s Students’ Union is offering a somewhat more practical education than what’s found in regular university classes.

From Monday, February 11 to Friday, February 15, the SU will be hosting panels, workshops, and talks revolving around the understanding of sex and gender.

With everything from the basics of BDSM to an introduction to the LGBTQ+ community, the UofC Students’ Union’s Sexual and Gender Wellness Week will have something for everyone.

And no, you don’t have to worry about buying a ticket or filling out an online registration.

Six events will be held over the five days, and U of C students will be able to attend, ask questions, and expand their sexual and gender education completely free of charge.

All the events will be held in or around the Students’ Union building and will be available to all students — with the exception of the Introduction to Rope Bondage class, which is only available to students 18 years old and up — on a walk-in basis.

The Sexual and Gender Wellness Week is a joint venture from the SU Wellness Centre, the U of C Students’ Union, and the Women’s Resource Centre among others.

Here’s a look at the events coming up next week:

February 11: Sex and Gender Wellness Panel

What: Everyone has a question or two about sex and gender (if you think you know everything already, you’re seriously kidding yourself), and those questions will be answered by a panel of professionals at That Empty Space. Questions can be asked in person, or if you want to stay a little more anonymous, you submit them to the question boxes around MacHall.
