After what has been described as a “testy” past couple of days for US-Canada relations, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau sat down with US President Donald Trump in front of reporters at the G7 Summit in Quebec on Friday.
Calling it a “pleasure” to welcome him, Trudeau said he and Trump planned to discuss a wide range of topics – including trade.
After he spoke, Trump, who was apparently in a joke-telling sort of mood, quipped “Justin has agreed to cut all tariffs, all trade barriers between Canada and the United States, so I’m very happy about that.”
Video of the quip – and the whole conversation as a whole was captured on video and posted to YouTube.
The US President is also reportedly leaving the G7 Summit four hours early to head to Singapore for his meeting with Kim Jong Un.
More to come…
