From mountain towns with stunning views to charming communities with quiet streets, here are five towns and cities near Calgary we would move to in 2026.
Okotoks

Okotoks is a vibrant community located just south of Calgary. It has a very charming downtown, beautiful scenery around the Sheep River, and tons of events going on year-round. Itâs the perfect spot to enjoy a slower pace of life, all while being just a short drive from the city.

Airdrie has seen a big population gain over the years, and for good reason. The city is full of family-friendly parks, community events, and a buzzing local scene with cafes, restaurants and shops. Itâs the perfect place for calm suburban living with plenty to do right in the city.

Nestled right in the Rockies, there’s hardly a more beautiful place you could call home. Canmore is much less touristy than Banff, but it offers the same incredible mountain views. Access to tons of hiking trails, cozy cafes and restaurants, and an amazing local shopping scene are just some of the things the town has to offer. Itâs a great spot for outdoor lovers or mountain enthusiasts.

Chestermere
