You can now buy booze from Starbucks in Toronto, but what about Calgary?

As of today people in Toronto can now buy booze from their baristas at certain Starbucks locations.

Rolling out a new scheme (well new to Canada anyway) called Starbucks Evenings, the java giant is offering Torontonians a new dining experience featuring wine, beer, and a menu of savoury small plates designed for snacking and sharing, all in a reimagined atmosphere.

Customers at the select spots (Starbucks Evenings will be available at three locations in Toronto) can forego their triple shot, no whip, skinny soy lattes and order Prosecco, hard cider, Canadian craft beer, wine, and other boozy beverages instead.

Food-wise, baristas will serve the evening crowd a smorgasbord of savoury snacks including bacon-wrapped dates, flatbreads, truffle mac and cheese, and other ambitious eats.

Although the company is already serving alcohol at more than 300 U.S. locations, in addition to one in the U.K. and one in Japan, it looks like Starbucks Canada is focused on launching the new Evenings menu in Toronto for the time being. According to CBC, the Seattle-based company hopes to eventually expand Starbucks Evenings to other locations across Canada. Time will tell.
