Toboggan snow prints lead Alberta cops to suspects in a top-tier Canadian way

Police in northern Alberta say two people were apprehended after shoe and toboggan prints in the snow led them to the suspects.
Peace River RCMP say on Feb. 3, 2026, just before 5 a.m., members responded to a break and enter at a Grimshaw business. Upon arrival, police noted damage to the building, and the owner reported multiple items stolen.
RCMP officers noted shoe and toboggan impressions in the snow near the scene, leading to a residence known to police. Peace River RCMP General Investigation Section obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence on Feb. 4, 2026, with assistance from Peace River RCMP General Duty and Police Dog Services. As a result of the search, multiple stolen items were recovered, mostly tools and vehicle parts, for an approximate value of $10,000.
As a result of the investigation, two suspects, both in their 20s and residents of Grimshaw, were charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime as well as one count of break and enter.
Both suspects were brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody, though one has since been released. They are to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Peace River on Feb. 23, 2026.
