There’s just something so satisfying about watching a well put together timelapse video.

Seeing literal years of construction condensed into mere minutes, the new Central Library appears to grow on its own accord in this video posted by the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation.

In reality, the stunning building took five years to create, with the first few dedicated to the construction of a C-Train tunnel that runs underneath the structure (as seen in the timelapse).

The library was first opened in November 2018, inviting Calgarians and visitors alike inside to see the stunning architecture, wide assortment of amenities, and incredibly photographic aesthetic.

Take two and a half minutes out of your day to witness one of Calgary’s boldest buildings rise from the ground up — believe us, it’s quite the sight!
