Attention all you aspiring shutterbugs. You can now spruce up your photography skills with free online courses courtesy of Nikon.

Until the end of April, the Japanese camera manufacturer is providing free digital photography courses that are available completely online.

“Nikon’s mission has always been to empower creators,” the company explains on its website.

“In these uncertain times, we can do that by helping creators stay inspired, engaged and growing. That’s why we’re providing all of our courses free for the entire month of April. Let’s come out of this even better.”

Users can choose from 10 different courses that cover a variety of photography subjects, including how to shoot landscapes, photographing children and pets, environmental portraiture, and more.

Another course, “Fundamentals of Photography,” is instructed by professional photographer Reed Hoffman to guide photographers of all skill levels to “go beyond your camera’s Auto mode and master the fundamentals of photography.”

Other courses include how to understand and correctly use various Nikon products from a Nikon DSLR to an SB-5000 Speedlight.

Nikon is also offering its Nikon Live event streams entirely free, where users can observe pre-recorded events that cover a wide variety of topics.

“Nikon LIVE brings you all the excitement, education and inspiration of live photography and videography presentations from some of the world’s greatest photographers,” the website describes.

With a majority of the world under some variation of a quarantine situation, it is the perfect opportunity to try something new, brush up on old skills, and otherwise find a productive way of using our time.

These courses from Nikon offer an excellent option not only for those who are just starting out in photography but also for anyone who is looking to learn something new about their favourite passion.
