Three more people have died in Alberta after testing positive for COVID-19.

New numbers from the province show that these additions bring the pandemic’s total fatality count to 220, while another 50 are hospitalized with coronavirus, 12 of whom are in intensive care.

The past 24 hours brought an addition 76 new cases to Alberta, the result of 7,746 tests, bringing the total to 11,969.

Of these, 1,036 are active.

Both Calgary and Edmonton saw slight increases in active coronavirus cases, with Calgary jumping from 312 to 314 since Wednesday, and Edmonton from 470 to 475.

A total of 793,114 tests have been administered to 647,281 — just over 1/8th of Alberta’s population.

As always, Albertans are urged to follow public health guidelines of practicing physical distancing, maintaining proper hand hygiene, wearing a mask when in public, and staying at home when they are feeling at all sick.
