It’s hump day! Which means you’re halfway to the weekend, and halfway to feeling better from last week’s debauchery.

Here are a few things happening around town today that will help you get back into the groove.

Wagonstage Children’s Theatre at the Calgary Zoo

Enjoy two 20 minute shows performed by Drama students from Wagonstage Children’s Theatre. Hippo Needs a Bath is performed in the green space between the Kitamba Café and the Rhino enclosure and The Dinosaur Club, No Babies Allowed! takes place in the Prehistoric Park Amphitheatre. Shows take place Wednesday through Sunday at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm

When: Wednesday through Sunday until Friday, August 19
Cost: Regular admission to the Zoo

Stephen Avenue Summer Stage featuring Lemon Bucket Orchestra

Stop by on your lunch hour, or look for it evenings and weekends through the summer to enjoy free live entertainment. Today’s feature artist is The Lemon Bucket Orchestra . The Canadian balkan-klezmer-gypsy-party-punk-super-band was born on the streets of Toronto as a busking band in 2010.

Lunchtime Pop-Up Picnics

A Pop-Up Picnic is a lunch hour (Noon to 1pm) event hosted by Downtown Calgary in various locations around the downtown core. They’ll provide the tables, chairs, entertainment and all you have to do is bring your lunch and some friends. Each picnic will have a unique theme – this week’s being ‘Princess Party’ and will be held at a different location each week.

Cobb’s Corn Maze 2016 Grand Opening!

Cobb’s Corn Maze is celebrating it’s 2016 kick-off. During their opening week celebrations, you’ll get free face painting, cotton candy and balloons. Your general admission ticket will also get you free access to the Climbing Wall, Spider Climb, Ropes Course, Blacklight Mini Golf, Bouncy World, Eurobungy, Archery Tag, Blaster Balls, Zorbz and Waterz all for opening week only.

Hamlet – A Ghost Story

Theatre Calgary’s Production of Hamlet takes a small hiatus from Prince’s Island Park and moves to St. Patrick’s Island for the week. No need to buy tickets for the show, just arrive early to grab a seat and bring a blanket with you if you’d like. The show runs on donations, so pay what you’d like when the collection hat makes it’s way through the crowd. Find showtimes online.
