New family-owned diner with all-day breakfast has just opened in Calgary
A long-standing Vancouver restaurant has just opened its first Calgary outpost, offering homemade all-day breakfast.
The Basic first opened in Vancouver over 30 years ago, going by the name “Joe’s Grill,” and has since expanded to three locations in the city. Now, the spot has finally made its debut in Calgary, with a new location in Crescent Heights.
For those unfamiliar, the diner-style spot offers classic homemade all-day breakfast and lunch dishes, made using quality ingredients at fair prices.

The large menu has everything from classic diner breakfasts, stacks of pancakes, omelettes, and bennies. Meanwhile, its lunch offerings include burgers and sandwiches, soups, salads, and more.
The Basic is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday and is available for walk-ins only.
